Linux Administrator - Ottawa Linux/OSS Job Postings

Apption, a software analytics company, is seeking a detail oriented Linux System Administrator with strong analytical and problem solving skills to complete the following tasks:

Primary Tasking
Re-size system partition
Install VMware, tools in Linux guest OS
Update/Upgrade Linux OS
Configure DHCP/DNS/Routing on a PBX Server
Assess impact of upgrading OS and application
Re-configure NAS Server
Creation/updating of documentation
Perform Linux knowledge transfer post implementation
Install and configure SNMP

Details of assignment
This is a short term, task specific contract
The candidate must be available to work after core business hours

Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 5 years Linux experience in a Network environment
Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to multitask effectively
Ability to document and follow predefined policies and procedures
Ability to work independently as well as part of team
Experience with installation, setup, configuration, patch management and administration of the following environments: RedHat, CentOS and Ubuntu
Strong system administration background (including monitoring, performance tuning and optimization)
Experience scripting language
Experience with web (apache, etc)
Experience configuring iptables based firewalls
Knowledge of and experience working with scripting languages (e.g. bash, Perl)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot system and network problems
Knowledge of services such as email/SMTP, web, IM, DNS, SNMP, DB, DHCP, etc.
Significant understanding and working experience with enterprise level virtualization (VMware primarily)
Working knowledge of NAS storage solutions
Cygwin knowledge
