Thomas Edison once used a bit of automation to do his job while he slept or did something else. Science aided his everyday railway job. We can use some similar ideas.
Scientific software outside the lab
Speaker: John C. NashThe speaker will show some scientific software tools and suggest some non-laboratory uses of tools that have been developed, particularly in automating reports, helping in classroom learning, and sometimes just for fun.
We'll look into the case of the terrorists from the Society for the Promotion of Math Anxiety who go out one night and add one foot of rail to the western rail of the O-train in a welded section 1 mile long. The rail bows out as a circular arc. But how far apart are the rails at the maximum distance?

Algonquin College is close to the corner of Woodroffe and Baseline and right across from the Baseline transitway station. Room B159 is in Building B.
Free parking is available in lots 8 and 9 after 5pm. Parking Lot 12 seems to be Pay and Display, but also seems to be free for Part Time Studies Students after 5pm.
