Hey Folks,

looking for some recommendations for an xmass gift for a 9 year old. A
book to introduce young folks to the fun, wonders and challenges of
programming.

I was given a book by my parents in my early years. It tought you how to
program spy games in BASIC. Although half the games were silly or didn't
work as advertised I did think it was a lot of fun and I think laid a
great platform for becoming the person I am today.

I am wondering if there are any educators on this list or instructors
that might know some great books for teaching kids to program. I know
the OLPC project provides some programming platforms for all ages on
their XO laptops.

Since I know Python myself I would love a python resource. However I am
open to other human readable languages as well.

Thanks for any advice or recommendations.

Cheers
