[oclug] Kubuntu wireless connection

Just for fun, I've booted an IBM (oops, I mean Lenovo) laptop with a Kubuntu
live CD. It's very cool, the only thing that isn't working is the wireless Internet.

I can go into network settings, scan for the access point, enter the passkey;
but there I'm stuck. I've checked "connect automatically" but it doesn't. And no
button or option I can see, tells it to attempt to connect to this network. The
wireless is working because the broadcast SSID is there, but I can't even load
192.168.1.1 (the router).

Worryingly, I don't even get an error message if I enter the wrong passkey.

Is there something obvious I've missed?

(Windoze connects fine, by the way.)
