As much as my advice will seem very random, since this is my first time adding to the conversation. I agree there may be some benifit to not organizing things in advance. I am personaly more likly to show up if I expect that my own concerns/quetions will be answered. However it is also nice to have people prepare presentions on what they know so they can provide more indepth insight into whatever topic they may cover.

I think the point here is that the meeting don't have to be all
structured and organized in advance. We should try to let the floor open
to users questions and see how it goes.

Roland Renaud who has been arranging speakers for the last year, has
asked several times for suggested topics. We discussed having
lightening talks for newbies and as refresher for the rest of us at one
of our recent meetings. If newcomers want introductory talks, just
email roland at oclug.on.ca. I am sure there are plenty of members who are
willing to do a quick talk and invite people to the beer sig for follow
up.
If there is a huge response we can arrange a tutorial night -- or
something.
