Hi;
I want to build a process that shows me a summary of the economic
conditions around the world. I don't need details of any one process
but would like to share some thoughts on which tools to use and to how
best to display the results. It is not as big of a project as it
sounds. The data is available; I am pretty sure the tools exist.
What I am thinking of:
* OECD in particular has RSS feeds of the top 130 economies in the
world.
* There are additional data sources (some that won't have RSS
feeds) that could be added later.
* OOo can be used for spreadsheeting the data and adding charts.
* Perhaps the data could be made dynamic later using some form of
imaging or cartooning.
OR;
Would I be better off creating and using a personal internet site (i.e.
putting the thing together using HTML/XML)?
Over the last four years I have used (if even only in a rudimentary
fashion) most the tools I think I might need. I am not afraid to dig
in. But I would like to come up with something that is close to
state-of-the-art and relatively professional looking. So, any
suggestions on how to come up with an original design and component
choice would be appreciated.
