[oclug] Debian installation - how many CDs or DVDs do I need?

Hi,
I have a simple Debian installation question.

I'm currently running the netinst CD for 5.0.0 and it's going to take
several hours to install the packages.
I'll probably install on another machine in a few days so downloading
a full CD or DVD might make sense but there are 20 CDs (or 5 DVDs).

If I download the first DVD or CD, is that going to give me most of
what I need?

I realize I can run apt-get once I have a basic system going.
