[oclug] Linux PBX (Asterisk) experience anyone?

Anyone here have any experiences (positive/negative) regarding
configuring and running an Asterisk-based PBX?

We're losing our space on campus and have to buy or build a phone system
and are looking for inexpensive ways to do that and one option we are
interested in is to go open source and use Asterisk, but we don't know
much about it.
