I bought a used Dell D600 from TTE a couple of months ago. They had a sale then,
and for $299 I got the laptop with a hi-res screen, 40Gb HDD, 1 Gb RAM, combo
optical drive, case, power supply and docking station. I subsequently upped the
RAM to 2Gb, and slipped out the old combo drive for a DVD +/- RW. I nuked the
HDD and put on Ubuntu 8. Other than some issues getting the wireless to work,
it was a smooth installation and it works flawlessly. The Dell D600 is a road
warrior's laptop with a magnesium shell and is makes an excellent linux laptop.
