Well, I'm not try to save just 2-3%; I'm trying to learn how to save
more by starting with something small and easy to understand.

I started out with Gnome when Ubuntu first came out and since I liked it
more than KDE, I have used it since.  You're right, if I want to get
serious rather than just puttering around, I should switch.
