Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, it wasn't the answer!

I investigated further and discovered that the fault lies in KAlarm and
nowhere else : although all the times etc. are set up correctly
throughout the system, when KAlarm imports its alarms for KOrganizer, IT
is the one who adds on the extra five hours. I've looked at the settings
for both KAlarm and KOrganizer, and both of them are the same : use
local clock. But, KAlarm adds the five hours UNLESS I set up the alarm
via KAlarm rather then KOrganizer!!!
