Thanks for all those who have been helping me out with these two
problems.

I am still having problems with the Palm as I'm not able to send my
calendar to it : things get connected but I don't seem to be able to
exchange data!

As for LVM : thanks, Dwayne, for that site address : there's lots to
absorb, but it seems to fit my needs precisely.
