Hi Allan,
Sorry, it's hard to give you a good advice since the lack of information
you have given us. If you want to get an absolutely correct advice you
will you "from the box", give us your /etc/samba/smb.conf (on other
distributions it's /etc/smb.conf). The general suggestion -- read
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/
Look for the notices in your letter.

Sure, there is a way to solve this problem -- configure samba server
correctly.
