Hi;
I got advice from several of you during this new motherboard purchase
and installation process. I would like to thank all members of OCLUG
who helped me. Special thanks to Adrian Irving-Beer and Michael
Richardson who introduced me last night to the beauty of mkinitrd at
Chances R.
I often complain about companies and the poor service I receive; (Rogers
Cable springs to mind). So when I have been well done by, I feel honour
bound to pass on the kudos.
I bought my motherboard, cpu and additional memory from PCCyber on
Wellington Street. Their price added up to $5 more than the cheapest
available, after adding in all delivery and/or shipping and handling
costs. They were nearby, and I had dealt with them before.
To make a long story short, my problems were caused by a dysfunctional
power pack which wasn't discovered until after my first trip back to
replace the new motherboard that also ceased working. They replaced the
new motherboard with another one, threw in a new power pack for no extra
charge, and installed the whole works for me free.
It was hard to get a better price to start with and the extras that they
did for me I would estimate could have cost me an additional $100.
Service doesn't get better than that. So if you are in the market for
something, it might be worth thinking of PCCyber.
