The thing that absolutely drives me bonkers concerning TV these days, is the
particularly nasty habit networks have of airing a few episodes now, then
breaking for 3-9 months (or more) before showing another few eps, then
another big break... rinse and repeat. They figure that by canning
Battlestar Galactica for a year (nothing till 2008 - the buggers!), they can
capture some "captive audience" at that timeframe. Don't know what captive
audience that is... it's sure not me... I guess I'm just not a well-behaved
little consumer. Tut tut on me.
It outa be against the law - whatever happened to 12 eps in the fall, a few
reruns over Christmas, 12 more eps, then general schlock over the summer when
noone's watching? You're right, broadcasting as we know it is heading
downhill fast. Might as well just wait a year for the boxset to come out,
then rent/buy that for commercial/bug/promo-free viewing at your own pace. I
heard a quote once that went something like: Programming is just something
that gets in the way of selling ads.
