It amazes me that people who will put any amount of effort into solving
some arcane networking (or whatever) problem can't, or won't, use the
simple solution of filtering out mail from senders they consider a waste
of time.

As for the content of the list... there is a technical list for
technical questions. I haven't noticed any complaints about technical
questions being sent to the general list.

If there is a desire to reserve the general, unmoderated, list for
general (non-technical) questions and comments 'about Linux' then
perhaps some of the complainers could start a discussion about some
non-technical matter related to Linux and thus guide and encourage the
list in that direction.
