Conversely I have been told by a graphic artist that 200 dpi is a
good target and anything over 100 dpi is fine. It depends on the
picture and the audience. A good digital picture may look fine
printed at 100dpi. If viewed from a distance 50 dpi may look fine.
The focus of the snapshot is typically not the quality of the image.
So 200 dpi could be overkill. However if you are entering your prints
in a contest then 300 dpi is probably a good target.
