I would recommend this, too; the neat portability, and robustness is 
worth it.

The downside is that you have to spend some time looking in to your 
requirements. Do you want a hard disk one, one with internal memory 
only, or one that takes memory cards? And are you going to live with 
MP3, or search for an ogg compatible one on principle?

Simpler players play tracks in alphabetical order (the convention is to 
use the first two characters as track number) but more complex players 
allow grouping by album or genre, and have features for "favorites" 
playlists.
