Particularly when the media is geared towards keeping the majority of
people fearful, entertained, or otherwise docile.

IMO, if you actually care about real content, then they don't
*want* your readership; you're the type that'll probably just cause
them trouble.

As long as they get attention and money from most other people, you're
just doing them a favour by ignoring them.
