Greg:
You obviously have strong opinions about many issues, very few truly
related to Linux and advocacy of open source software.
I'm sure there are forums where your opinions and contributions will be
valued and welcomed. In addition to the possibility of finding
welcoming on-line forums, you may wish to consider choosing a nation and
political system more to your liking as a home base.
It must be hellish to live here where capitalists gambol and freely roll
about in their own filth while abusing the honorable downtrodden
proletariat that have enabled their fortune. I feel your pain. Really,
I do. I wish we could return to the days where honest men bound
together to unite in the cause of the common man, fighting the damned
elite with any means necessary.
Equally disturbing you must find the concept of democracy. Even with
the downtrodden, maltreated workers vastly outnumbering and out-breeding
their capitalist oppressors, watching elections must be heartrending.
How could a majority of people choose to continue to support such a
system? The angst induced by knowing people _choose_ to be governed
under such a system must be unbearable to an idealist such as yourself.
Why can't people see that what we need is a charismatic leader to lead
us out of the dark into the light of paradise.
Maybe that leader is you. One possibility you may wish to consider is
grabbing a podium every chance you get to help people make the right
choices. Your choices. You seem to have a talent for public discourse,
so this may be right up your alley.
OCLUG is a small forum, filled with dreary people interested in boring
technical details about an operating system and open source programs
shared willingly with others. This is very small potatoes for a leader
of your stature. Think big. Stop preaching to the choir.
Greg, you've outgrown us in so many ways. Do not limit the impact your
words can make by wasting them on people such as me.
Your departure from OCLUG for bigger and better things would be a loss
for all that have benefited from your excellence, but I think we could
manage. I know I would miss your words of wisdom and guidance, but I
could get over it impossible as it may seem.
Let me know if I can help you pack! I'm serious, and this may be the
way I'll contribute to your inevitable destiny.
Your friend and supporter,
