That's a pretty good summary of what validation is supposed to 
accomplish.  My purpose was to outline one of the problems that Linux 
faces in the Pharma industry, I guess it was part of a thought process 
I'm going through at the moment.  As I said, there have been validated 
Linux based systems.  They're rare right now.  I'd like to see a lot 
more, for exactly those reasons of quality assurance, stability, 
reliability etc.
