There has been a recent entry at slashdot with a sensationalistic
headline that implied that refilling Lexmark cartridges would commit
Further reading showed that Lexmark's position appears to be
reasonable. They were unhappy when refillers refilled 'prebate'
cartridges--i.e. ones that had a significant discount but required that
the buyer return the cartridge to Lexmark for reuse.
So, don't punish them for this recent issue, punish them for their
previous (failed) attempt to use the DMCA to stop refilling practices.
Or buy a pencil.
