[oclug] Auto Shutdown in Ubuntu 5.04

I am still kind of a noob when it comes to somethings in linux, I have recently installed ubuntu 5.04 and ab loving it. But i would like to know if there is a way to setup the computer to autmatically tell it to shutdown at a pre-determined time (to save on energy so i can fall asleep watching movies) and no i can't leave it on all the time, my parents have nixed that one. Any help would be greatly appretiated.
