Were you on the phone with them at the time, and did they recommend
the reset? I've found it's a general (sneaky) tactic of ISPs to tell
you to do things like reboot while they fix the problem on their end.
Everything comes back up, and it looks like the problem was on your
end, and nobody's the wiser. ;)
