There are so many different published descriptions of the purpose of the 
new list.  I wonder if the various authors might confer and agree to 
publish only one.

As it stands, I suspect the purpose is to allow the topics and persons 
which the particular speakers wish to hear and to disallow those which 
each wishes not to hear.

You may be right.  However, Stephen certainly has as much right as you 
to protest topics which displease him.

Given the open nature of this list, I would expect Stephen to refrain 
from joining discussions of which he disapproves and you will join 
discussions of which you approve.  And you will both voice your various 
disapprovals from time to time.

In any case, in the long run, both lists will be defined by practical 
consensus, by those discussions in which the two memberships actually 
participate, not by regulation.
