[oclug] newbie more dns questions

I'm trying to set up dns for an isolated network and I don't know how to 
handle the zone "." entry in named.conf (this is probably because I don't 
understand the "." zone).  Since the network is isolated, can I make the dns 
type master for the "." zone?  Or is it better to make it type hint with the 
hint file containing a single entry pointing to localhost?
