Well, it's set up as both a mail and web server so there's quite a lot in /var 
too.  And there's really only 2 partitions on the existing disk (boot, 
because bootloader don't do LVM and / for all the rest). So if I want to grow 
several file sytems such as /home, /var, and /usr, I have to integrate the 
new disk partition(s)  (Physical Volumes) into the existing VG then extend 
the LVs that need the space.  Almost sounds like I know what I'm doing, but 
don't believe it :)

I'm busy reading the LVM howto . . .
