Adding a channel to an existing cable feed would be expensive and
annoying. To do something easy and cheap, you could get an RF
modulator from RadioShack (or similar establishments) for $30-$50
which takes a composite (or S-Video) and audio input and outputs onto
VHF channel 3 or 4 (usually). You could then get a TV capture card
(another $30-$50) which you'd plug your cable feed into, disconnecting
it from the rest of the house, and plug the rest of the house into
your RF modulator output, and your computer's video & audio output
into the RF modulator input. Setup LIRC and sprinkle IR receivers
near every TV to control the computer for channel changing, and you
could have everyone using MythTV (but only one myth channel at a
time... unless you got some old XBoxes and put a MythTV frontend on
each TV).
Could be fun.
Kevin.
