My point is simply that Microsoft never 'has' to do anything --
they're just greedy.  And if they were really so morally opposed to
Linux (as being 'un-American'), rather than just trying to crush any
free alternative to Windows, they would try to woo people with their
non-Linux-compatible Virtual Server 2005 instead.

(That's not to say they won't add support, get everyone hooked on the
product, and then quietly break it later, of course.)
