what version of Oracle are you trying to install?  8.x installs fine on
Redhat 7/8, debian and possibly others, 9.x, 10 on Redhat 9 / Fedora
Core 1.. 
there are a couple of patches and gotchas, google is your friend,
they're easy to find.
