I didn't know about the performance problems.

Can you tell me if CVS allows you to change the name of a file, or the 
folder it's in, and still keep the version information - ie:
1) You can see versions of the file from before the name change by 
looking at the history of the renamed file
2) You can revert to the old version of the file from before the name 
change, or the location change
3) if you go back to the previous version of the file, it has the old 
name and is in the old directory.

I understand this is something that ClearCase does. Is that part of 
ClearCase's advantage or something you can do with CVS also?
I have used Perforce, and it doesn't handle this situation well at all. 
I only ask because I have in fact changed names and locations of files 
in the middle of development, especially during refactoring.
