Just so that the archives will have the solution...
When I restored my mail directory after installation, I had to fix the
permissions for the new system. It turns out that there are two hidden
files, .sylpheed_cache and .sylpheed_mark, in every mail subdirectory
that are written to by sylpheed. After restoration however, the
permissions were set to -r--r--r-- and I didn't see them. I just did a
chmod ug+w on the files and the above problem was fixed.
