Rather than buying a new drive, I just split the drive in half to start
with. Many boxes I've built need storage on the order of 20-40GB rather
than 80-100GB so there is plenty of room to move. I mainly do this so
that the next upgrade can be conducted without the need to take data off
disk. Once I'm confident it is working the way it should I can flip the
box to the new build. Backups are a must as always.

This method, like the 2nd drive solution, allows for a quick backout.
