I recomend IBM. The laptops use basic nothing-fancy hardware, are well
made, heavy, bullet proof, and heavy.
There is one caveat with IBM. Two laptops with the same model name may
have slightly different hardware. Particularly wireless, network and
modem components. For example in the older A series laptops IBM would
use either the 3com nic + modem, or the Intel nic + Lucent modem. The
Lucent was supported. The 3com modem was not.
I liked my IBM. I wish I had not traded it in for a Dell.
