I was planting an evergreen, a gorgeous white Pine. As enjoyable has it
is, I took a moment to observe the snow birds fly just over my head in
the Gatineau hill's. Beautiful aircrafts even if a bit noisy.

My mind slipped to June 6, D Day, wheres so many died to liberate a
continent from the disease of hatred and evil minds that enslaved it.

My new tree is green, green for hope, it keeps it's colour during the
sleeping winter season, reminding me of spring and summer to arrive
soon, if I make it for another year.

On June 24, I planted tree's also, I have that freedom thanks to so many
that allowed it to be so, 60 years ago. Many where Québecois, proud and
respectfull of who there are and went to France to free it. Some where
first nations people, a heritage I also enjoy, even is 5 generations
removed from my Algonquin ancestors. I also have Scottish blood, thanks
to my fathers ancestors that came here to make a new life some 150 years
ago. Amazing.

Today is Canada day and I find it fitting that I'm planting a Pine tree,
I hope it will grow big, strong, healthy, giving shade and protection to
birds and squirrels that live around my house.

Don't take this day for granted, if you can then go plant a tree and
remember why your doing it.

Happy Canada day/Joyeuse Fête du Canada
