I did try to do updates on first install when it suggested it.
Something at the time prevented it from working. I guessed it
was a busy server or similar and put it off until later.
The GUI to do it seems straight forward from the docs - but
I'm trying to do it remotely from the command line.
Further perusal of the Mandrake Security pages comparing errata to my
system seems to indicate at least some of my packages are not current.
My /etc/urpmi.cfg contains this group (after some that refer to the
install cd's.)
update_source
ftp://ftp.stealth.net/pub/mirrors/ftp.mandrake.com/Mandrake/updates/9.
2/RPMS {
hdlist: hdlist.update_source.cz
with_hdlist: ../base/hdlist.cz
list: list.update_source
update
ignore
}
I didn't put that there. Is this correct to receive errata updates?
Is there a more local/reliable mirror I should use instead?
Do I have to mention this source specifically when I want updates
or should urpmi --auto-select use it automatically?

Of course. This box has a fairly narrow range of duties - I've
installed
as little as possible. I wouldn't have installed X if I hadn't wanted
to see what Mandrake looked like. That should help reduce the
maintenance.

Thanks - I'll look.
