There is an easier way to fix this.

run Mandrake Control Center (MCC).  Select System and then MenuDrake.
Once in menudrake select "system menu" by clicking configure.
You will see all the menu items in MenuDrake as they should be.

Now all you do is click Save and your menu items are back.
