[oclug] Suse 9.0 or Red Hat 9.0 (fedora core 1)

Which of the following three distros, would be the best for a beginner / intermediate user for linux. i need it to to the following things, see my promise ide controller (doesn't have to be raid), Firewire DV Capture and dvd burnering / authoring. ANy other software that you people find helpful would also be greatly appretiated. I have tried to install Mandrake 9.2 before and did not like the results. it took forever. Any way any help is greatly appretiated.
