I wanted to print out monthly calendars, preferably with some notes
for important dates. I tried several different packages. I found that
most were cumbersome to use and/or had poor print quality. Several
were not portable as the calendar dates were stored in one or more
complicated files buried in a subdirectory or database. I resigned
myself to the fact that I probably should just find a simple
postscript generator, print the calendars, and the write my various
notes by hand. Fortunately a google search found an article written by
David Skoll for Linux Journal dated February 2000.

Remind is a calendar and reminder program written by David. It uses a
simple hand edited text file to store dates, and has a nice postscript
generator to print monthly calendars. The date expression language is
quite powerfull. Remind can easily handle dates such as "the first
Tuesday of every month except Holidays." There is a gui, but I have
not used it. I encourage everyone to have a look.

Thanks again David.

PS: The article claimed that Remind should work on most Unix
systems. I agree. I am useing it on MacOS which isn't really *nix.
