[oclug] WEIRD!!

On a server I've become the parent of, there exists, in /var/log/ about
270 thousand files that match mgetty*!! Files like:

...
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.1.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.1.1.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.1.2
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.2
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.2.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.2.3
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.3
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.3.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.3.1.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.3.2
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.4
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.4.1
mgetty.log.ttyS0.1.1.1.1.2.2.6.5
...

It's a RedHat 7.3 box, hosted outside of my physical control. All these
files seem to be dated around the 1st of a month (feb 1, mar 1, etc).

Anyone have any idea what caused these things to appear? And how can I
(easily) delete 270k files... rm mgetty* says the arg list is too long!

Cheers!
Jon
