thanks Brian I am considering this.
I was trying to use dselect which I think uses apt. It also looks for
dependencies and conflicts.
I lost my net connection yesterday and need to debug that when I have
time,
but another work week has rolled along so I am not sure how much time
I will spend on this this week.
