I agree with Brad (and no, we don't have to punch each other in the head to see if agreeing feels better or worse than that.) :)  I use a workstation running Debain stable at work for managing the RedHat-Oracle server and other stuff, and Debian updates are routinely more quickly published than Red Hat.  As an added bonus, I have been able to apply the Debian updates without ever taking the box down.  I have had to reboot the Red Hat server after certain updates.

Debian is very quick about this for its stable distro.  Most distros are,
these days.
