Fortunately, there is a way around this issue.  Packaging also allows
distributors and VAR's to modularize the options, so rather than getting a
lot of functionality you don't need, you can simply install the
functionality you want.

Unfortunately, at the moment, not all package vendors take this approach. 
As it happens, they are trying to please everybody's requirements with one
overstuffed package.
