Oooh, Opteron (my ears perk up)...
I find this subject very interesting... I am working on the Debian port
to amd64 (aka x86-64 or Athlon64 or Hammer or Opteron).
In the porting team we are using SuSE as they were the first adaptors
and first to release a fully functional 64bit OS for this platform.
Within the SuSE booted system we run a chrooted Debian/Sid install in
which we port packages. As such we don't use much of SuSE so I don't
really know how it performs or what-not.
I purchased my dual Opteron-240 from RGB (www.shoprbc.com) and received
superb service. Their prices were very reasonable... so much so that
MIT is looking into purchasing a 16-node cluster from them.
I've got no URLs/pictures related to my system... All that can be
remedied on request.
If you are interested in the port efforts you can look here:

Follow some of the links, as I am just one member of the porting team.
Cheers,
Bart.
