hey,

I have been using mplayer/mencoder for some time now and it amazes me as
to how fast it's developing. I updated it last night with a quick
complile. After installing I decided to check on it's tv viewing progress.
Wow, I was really impressed. I have to say it's the best tv capture
software I have used to date. Unbelievably stable. I set up lirc so my
remote works with tv. Full screen works flawlessly. Mapped out the
keyboard. A mouse menu might be nice to display and choose channels from a
list.

Mencoder without saying the best encoder. The resulting videos recorded
from /dev/video would be hard to tell if you were watching tv or a
recording. Have yet to drop a single frame.

Everything works flawlessly (so far) and to top it all off rib fest starts
today!
