[oclug] clipboard, terminal, text editor

I tried to update from KDE-3.1.1 to KDE-3.1.2 and now KDE doesn't work.
My X still works so I am useing a plain window manager (ice).
I like the speed that it starts, it makes KDE seem slow (and I was 
impressed because it is faster than Win98).
I *may* end up sticking to just a window manager but there are a few 
things that I miss from KDE.

I miss being able to cut and paste between apps so what options do I 
have for a clipboard (I can run KDE applications so I have been running 
klipper in the mean time)?

I don't like xterm so what options do I have for a terminal that has a 
buffer and scroll bars.

I need a simple and small text editor.
I used to use kate from KDE for that.
