If you don't desire 3D then Matrox cards are hard to beat with the
superior image quality.

In order to access some of the features of the card you will have to
use the closed source HAL driver from matrox. All the 2D features are
opensource straight from XFree. As well as the excellent framebuffer
support in the kernel.

I have a large number of G450s in the lab running dual head and could
not be happier.

The Parhelia Cards are a different matter the current drivers from
Matrox are sub par. There does seem to be a commiment to higher
quality drivers, but they have not delivered yet.
