For whatever it is worth, I've met some problems with the NVidia
drivers. Openbox has some experimental code that uses OpenGL to render
window widgets. With NVidia drivers, we crash the X server somewhere
in their driver, while with software rendering and or ATI cards, it
works fine and fast. One of our developers has contacted NVidia with
more than enough debugging information and we haven't heard anything
back at all.
So I kind of regret getting an NVidia when I had the option.
