[oclug] List etiquette and straw poll

A while ago I put up a straw poll the try to get a feel for the pulse of
this list WRT to a list split for off-topic content. While the poll was
informal and not verifiable externally, I did carefully watch the logs
for double postings and I must say that when it came to the poll, this
bunch of people were very well behaved and there were few attempts to
spam it. 

What the poll did show was that a majority of people wanted some sort of
change, with the strongest change desired being an un-moderated but
split list.

While some were derisive of the poll and some felt I was trying to
dictate policy to the board, that was not my intent. What I did try to
do is give a voice to the folks here that was not just talk. Please,
members of the board, take this into consideration and please try to
take some action. I know we wont satisfy everybody, but we might be able
to rgain some semblance of control and make OCLUG a stronger place. None
of this would be necessary if people would exercise some self-restraint,
but that seems to be impossible for some people and the same noise
continues over and over again, ad nausium.
