Actually Howard, dbase files are standard across all versions since 4.0 I 
believe as a flat file database when you go Tools>Data Sources>Data Base 
Type>

Currently using them as a contact list generator but their is a destinction 
that may be relevant. The files are created for a contacts db are 
contacts.dbf and contacts.dbt There is no .idx file componant. 

Information only as Im not up too speed on this file format.
